プレスリリース

Boston, Massachusetts, August 20, 2013 - The Czech Republic market is expected to become more competitive as the regulator plans on introducing a new operator through the LTE auction and by encouraging the entry of MVNOs, according to a new report from Pyramid Research, according to a new report from Pyramid Research.

Czech Republic: NGNs and MVNO Initiative by Telecom Regulator Heat Up Operator Competition offers a precise profile of the country’s telecommunications, media and technology sectors based on proprietary data from Pyramid’s research in the market. It provides a detailed competitive analysis of both the fixed and mobile sectors, tracks the market shares of technologies and services and monitors the introduction and spread of new technologies.

“The regulator continues to introduce different measures to keep the Czech telecom sector in line with the EU recommended average, which includes a wide range of decisions on roaming fees, termination rates, wholesale rates and number portability,” says Olena Kaplan, Associate Analyst at Pyramid Research. In order to ensure competition in the market, the regulator is introducing extra resolutions, such as exclusive tender rights as part of the upcoming frequency. The regulator plans to offer frequencies in the 800MHz band exclusively to a new market entrant. PPF Group, the richest private-equity firm in Central Europe, is believed to be interested in participating in the auction as a newcomer to the market. Furthermore, the regulator is pushing existing MNOs to open up their networks to MVNOs. One such agreement is the extension of a partnership between the retail chain Tesco and Telefonica, which was launched in May 2013, she notes.

Czech Republic: NGNs and MVNO Initiative by Telecom Regulator Heat Up Operator Competition is part of Pyramid Research’s Europe Intelligence Report Series and is priced at $990.
