North American Mobile Infrastructure Market Grew Fastest Pace in Over Five Years  According to Dell’Oro Group

Samsung Passed ZTE to Claim Number Four Spot

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - August 20, 2018 - According to a recently published report from Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center IT industries, the North American Mobile Infrastructure Radio Access Network (RAN) market grew at the fastest pace in over five years since 2013.  Samsung passed ZTE to claim to be number four spot.

“The momentum in the first half is a testament to the reality that the tides are turning in the US market,” said Stefan Pongratz, Senior Director with the Dell’Oro Group. “The double-digit growth in the first half was driven by a confluence of factors including continued LTE coverage deployments, robust capacity investments to cope with increased data traffic, growing investments to ensure the network is ready for 5G NR, and new capex to support FirstNet,” continued Pongratz.

The report also shows that while the vendor rankings for the top three vendors remained unchanged with Huawei, Ericsson, and Nokia leading the market, Samsung’s RAN revenue share reached a new record in the quarter and first half. Samsung passed ZTE in the first half of 2018 to claim a top-four market position globally for the first time, fueled by capacity investments and footprint expansion in both the North American and Asia Pacific Region. Samsung’s revenue share in the North American region increased three-fold between 2017 and the first half of 2018.
