s the use of bandwidth-hungry applications and services increases, the Ethernet Switch market continues to remain very robust. As new networks require higher security and additional features, equipment manufacturers have the opportunity to deliver faster, more intelligent switches.

To take advantage of the opportunities in this market, component manufacturers, equipment vendors, service providers, and financial institutions need to answer critical business questions including:

  • Which is more important in driving the market: need for faster connections or demand for additional services?
  • How is the migration towards 10GE for server access affecting 10GE Top-of-Rack and Blade switch vendors?
  • How is 40 Gbps Ethernet, virtualization, consolidation and a shift in vendor strategy affecting the Ethernet Switch market?
  • Are current market leaders gaining or losing momentum?

To answer these and other important questions, Dell’Oro Group delivers both quarterly reports and 5-year forecasts on the Ethernet Switch market.

プレスリリース

2022年までのイーサネットキャンパススイッチ市場を促進する期限切れ製品のリフレッシュサイクル - デローログループ発表

Overdue Product Refresh Cycle to Drive Ethernet Campus Switch Market Growth Through 2022,  According to Dell’Oro Group

Nearly 850 Million Power over Ethernet Switch Ports to Ship over the Next Five Years

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - July 11, 2018 - According to a recently published report by Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center IT industries, Ethernet campus switches with enhanced software and hardware capabilities will fuel market growth through 2022. The report highlights the use cases that will drive Power over Ethernet (PoE) port shipments to nearly 850 million total ports over the next five years.

“The Ethernet campus switch market is about to undergo a major upgrade cycle that will drive sustained growth over the next five years,” said Sameh Boujelbene, Senior Director at Dell’Oro Group. “The campus switch installed base is ripe for refresh, not only because it’s an aging infrastructure, but also due to the lack of support of new capabilities needed to enable the digital transformation. New campus switches are expected to provide additional features such as automation, security, analytics and network visibility. We also expect a higher portion of campus switch ports to support PoE due to increased demand from PoE enabled devices such as WLAN, security cameras and PoE lighting,” added Boujelbene.

Additional highlights from the Ethernet Switch ? Layer 2+3 5-Year Report:

  • How will extended switching software capabilities affect the Ethernet Switch market?
  • When will 2.5 Gbps shipments surpass 5.0 Gbps and what is the expected price point for both speeds?
  • Impact of the move towards subscription-based sales models in campus switching.

About the Report

The Dell’Oro Group Ethernet Switch ? Layer 2+3 5-Year Forecast Report offers a complete overview of the Ethernet Switch industry with tables covering manufacturers’ revenue, average selling prices, and port/unit shipments (by speed Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, 2.5 Gigabit, 5.0 Gigabit Ethernet, 25 Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, 40 Gigabit Ethernet, 50 Gigabit Ethernet, 100 Gigabit Ethernet) for Layers 2-3 (both managed and unmanaged).
